Biography
Dragan Alexander was born ( Dragan Petrovic) in Belgrade 1961. He is naturalized Canadian who immigrated to Canada /Toronto/ in early nineties, from his native Belgrade where he made living as a professional musician. His influences are great pianist such as Herbie Hencock, Chick Corea, Bill Evans and Diana Krall. Playing Jazz and Commercial music in Belgrade and Europe, Dragan composed and arranged music for theater's and Radio and TV stations.
In the '80, back in Serbia, Dragan was member of 'Slomljena Stakla band" a successful Pop band from Belgrade. Released 4 album and sold around 1 million copies. Being a studio musician in the '80 played big part in Dragan's music carrier, as well as helping other bands (PASTA ZZ, VATRENE KOCIJE, TUTI FRUTI BAND) making they own music sound in a fomar ex YU.
Always alluding, suggesting many influences from Continental American to Romany Europe, Dragan's playing and composing manages to capture the ear in both its; good taste and understated subtle sophistication offering jazz music lovers of all tastes a palette of elegant musical cuisine.
Today, Dragan spends a great deal of his time in studio, working with Toronto artrist, such as: Sharon Bieck, Lorne Mc Milan, Mark Rudy, Lionel Rodriques, Guy Stefan,Stacey Green - Struke, Mika Shave, RileyO'Connor, Paco Luviano, Geoff Hlibka, Pat Diamanti, Mike Nease...
